What Heek is
Heek looks to tap the energy, intelligence and attitude of this generation. Heek is about having Fun, and the name is a tribute to this exuberance. It’s about letting children be themselves, giving them their space, about being Classy Cool… but with feet firmly planted on the ground, because they have to grow into responsibilities.
Who should visit Heek
Heek is for children between the ages of 7 and 13. Though the editorial content of Heek is aimed at children, it will also seek to underline the essential child-guardian relationship, without alienating either.
Further, the content allows parents to debate the modern day balance of fun and serious work in a child’s life. A definite spillover audience will be teachers, child-parent research groups, older siblings and other concerned audiences such as children's products marketers, FMCG and durables marketers and so on.
For all these audiences, Heek will provide a ringside view to what drives the children of today. It will also encourage cross-age group readership, but the focus of its content and edit environment will always underline its basic target audience.
What Heek has
Editorial - and news - coverage that spans all the relevant aspects of a child’s life - science, environment, history, entertainment, career interests, fashion et al. Articles that span India, Asia and the entire world in terms of reach, relevance and reliability, from the child’s (and guardian’s) point of view. Tackling children’s concerns about how they feel, look and see, and what they want as they grow older.
Addressing kids in a manner they can identify with, while maintaining journalistic integrity. Heek hopes to cultivate a lasting friendship with children, creating an appreciation for reading. The style of narrative: contemporary, crisp, clean and easy-to-comprehend.
Addressing a target group that’s in need of a good medium - one which brings out their ethos, without conflict with other interest groups. Heek seeks to establish a pattern of communication that reflects and blends into a child’s busy, preoccupied media life - the internet, television, videogames, radio, books and newspapers.
Heek promises to be stimulating, lively and refreshing, and will promote interactivity, with readers, ideas and energy flowing into the magazine.
Who’s behind Heek
The founding team brings together about 35 years of combined editorial, publishing and marketing experience. We’ve seen magazine launches, redesigns, even shutter-downs. We have interacted with some of India’s - and the World’s - best editors, art directors and publishers. This commitment is reinforced because children are actually reading more, as our other venture, Eureka! - a children’s bookstore in an upscale Delhi locality - has proved.
Heek’s print version has a substantial base of readers and we look to reach a circulation of 15,000 copies by its 10th issue
